The information on this page is extremely crucial, so please read it fully before you make travel plans.
Update: How do I get there/find a Rider/Driver to Share a Vehicle?
If you've registered- you either have or will receive an email soon. This email title includes the words "PAPA Festival Registration Packet." Please check your junk mail if you can't find it. If you registered recently- it'll be coming soon.
This email contains lots of info pretaining to the fest- including driving directions and this link to our rideshare forum. The forum is password protected... you will find the password in your registration email under the "Rideshare forum" heading. More travel info is below... see you soon!
When To Arrive and Depart:
Plan to arrive on site after 9:30am on Thursday, June 19. We're asking everyone to be on their way home by 6:00pm on Sunday, June 22nd. Arriving early and/or staying late cannot be accommodated. (Sorry.) Please make travel arrangements accordingly.
Where is this thing anyway?
The PAPA Festival site is about 2 hours from Chicago in rural IL. Shoot in that direction and we will fill you in on the rest after you complete the Registration Form and submit it.
How Should I Get There?
You can get there (or close) by car/van and Amtrak. Unfortunately, there are no Greyhound stations nearby, and Chicago is the closest major airport. We encourage those flying into Chicago to seek riders or drivers to share a ride between the city and PAPA Fest.
Driving Info:
We have a HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) requirement on all vehicles because on-site parking is very limited. Be sure to fill yours up or be on the look-out for folks needing rides from your region.
Directions:
There are no directions until you register. Once you give us the info we need, we will follow up with the details you need. Thanks for your cooperation on this. For liability and sustainability,
we are asking folks not to just show up without registering
beforehand, so we will be ready to have the healthiest village we can create.
If you are planning on taking a train:
Make sure you mark that on your registration so we can plan shuttles to and from the station. We are planning to have shuttles only for the open and closing days of the fest, so if you plan to arrive or leave some other day you will be on your own for transport to and from the station. We can send you a train schedule with your registration packet so you can make your travel plans.
If you are traveling with a child or children and plan on taking a shuttle:
Please make sure 1) we know that, and 2) you bring the necessary child seat or vehicle restraint system for that child. If this is a problem, please contact us at the email listed below
*If you feel it necessary to rent a vehicle to get from the airport to the site, we do not need your info. However, we do not recommend renting a vehicle due to the lack of parking spaces available on site.
Who should I talk to about all this?
If you have any questions, comments or concerns, you
may contact Heather at cheezemhl@hotmail.com.
We will have a phone number that you may call once the festival gets close in case you have questions, delays, or you are desperately lost. This number will be included in your Registration packet.
Happy travels!
