P.A.P.A Fest 1997:

In the summer of 1997, P.A.P.A. Fest (People Against Poverty and Apathy) was born. Students at Eastern University, on the outskirts of Philly felt the need to gather an eclectic mix of artists, social justice groups, and people of faith and conscience together to have some fun and learn together. So there was a day festival of bands, speakers and exhibits. Many of the folks who ignited this dream are planning the festival now a decade later.
